Your Wedding Can Be A Royal Event Just Like the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton

The approaching royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton has everyone excited.  It has been 3 decades since such a big wedding event has occured.  Despite it being considered a UK event, the entire world will be watching.  It is expected to draw more interest than the wedding of Prince William's parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.  As the April event approaches Brides will be taking notes on each and every detail in the hopes of capturing a bit of the wedding planning and duplicating it in their own wedding event.

A few details will leak out before the event and from those details Brides everywhere will benefit from designers and companies seeking to increase their revenue by duplicating bouquets, shoes, gloves, and wedding dress details for others to capture.  However, it will not be the dress nor the bouquet that makes the wedding special, it will be the other details that will be important.  The traditions and the symbolism involved in are what will make the event different from others and more Royal, after all that is what Royals are good at, keeping tradition.

You too can capture some of that same specialness that will make your event a royal event and memorable.  Princess Diana carried in her bouquet ivy that had been planted from the cuttings of Queen Victoria's bridal bouquet.  Consider duplicating the bouquet of your mother, grandmother, or even your Groom's grandmother's bouquet in your own wedding. 

You very well may want to capture details from Kate's wedding gown, but also watch and consider replicating the traditions of the day.  Discuss the details that made up the wedding of your own parents, grandparents, and those of your Groom's family and use those events in your own wedding.  It will be the traditions that will take front and center with the Royal Wedding in England and that is what will make that wedding so special.  Grab a little tradition and carry it in your own special day, and perhaps the things you do will then be carried on once again with your own children.  Traditions are always a key to keeping generations connected and those are what will make your wedding a royal event indeed.

Musical Treasures from the Smithsonian to Tour Through Five States

The Smithsonian is known to hold treasures from history and its musical treasures are indeed some of the most relevant to music history.  Luckily for those within Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio and South Carolina, the Smithsonian is bringing a musical history tour called New Harmonies to those areas.

The tour hitting those five states is part of the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street project.  The project which debuts in March, showcases America's richest stories in music according to its director, Carol Harsh.

The tour will make stops in those five states at libraries, historical societies, and performance spaces in towns and small cities.

Some of the interesting things one might experience from the tour is to see musical instruments created from the innovations of poverty: a cigar box guitar; a Cajun rub board strummed with a bottle opener; and a diddley bow.  Other instruments and historical musicians and songs will all be covered.  The tour is one that is very hands on which makes it an attractive exhibit.

The tour will mix with local programs.  For instance, at the debut of the exhibit on March 12 at the Asbury Park Public Library in Asbury Park, NJ, visitors will also be exposed to the Library's home collection of Bruce Springsteen.

Another example of the tour coming together with local music history is that when doing stops in the Mississippi area visitors will learn of the blues, with its African American roots, influenced jazz, rock, and rockabilly.  The local music influence with French, Spanish, Creole and Jewish flavors will be explored as well.

The US has a rich history and music is a part of that history.  It is a wonderful opportunity that the Smithsonian program is bringing to the areas scheduled for stops of the tour.  Perhaps with a high visitor rate it will extend to more areas.  This is a well organized event and will be a wonderful experience for those fortunate to visit.  For more information follow this link: Smithsonian Museum on Main Street New Harmonies.
