Wednesdays are viewed different by most people. For some it is the point at which they start counting down the hours and minutes until the weekend. Hence the nickname of "Hump Day" and getting over the hump of the days in the week - it's all downhill and easier supposedly after Wednesday. For others it is the crunch day for trying to meet Friday deadlines. I prefer to look at Wednesdays as Winning Wednesdays and its the best day of the week, really.
It's not about the time that has passed, nor the time coming up. It's all about a day of reflection and a day to win back the week. Mondays and Tuesdays are usually about getting reacquainted with work, school, or a busy schedule. By the time Wednesday is upon us it is easy to just think ahead to when pressures will be less and more living will be done. Fun, relaxing times, friends and family gathered together or just some personal time.
For those planning weekend parties or events, it can be the time for panic. The clock starts ticking louder in the head when Wednesday comes for those with deadlines coming due on the weekend. Stress becomes higher, time seems to speed by.
I say we quit looking behind us or ahead of us on Wednesdays, but instead look inward. It is the time when half of the week is behind us and the last half is ahead of us. No matter what has occurred in the week past it can be the turning point to winning back the week.
Start making Wednesdays the day when you kick it up a notch to win the week - to meet goals and make deadlines. Find more energy, make an effort to do what it takes in your efforts to make the rest of the week spectacular. Whether it is studying for a test, doing something you have been putting off, going into work for extra hours, calling vendors to assure their deliveries and your expectations, or to review your goals and plans to make sure you are on target.
It is a great day for finding focus. For remembering that it is about the living and not the doing. Give yourself a break and quit being so hard on yourself - make Wednesdays the day to kick it up a notch and then go back to what you can handle the rest of the week.
Is your event, wedding, party coming up over the weekend? Then cross as many things as you can off your to do list and win the week by delegating. Do you have a lot on your to do list, especially with the demands of the Holiday season? Then go through your list and make some phone calls and remove what you can from your schedule. Sometimes we have to say "No, but thank you", and we also have to ask for help. Win your week back and do what it takes today or tonight. Wednesday is 24 hours long - do what it takes to win.
Whatever Wednesdays have been to you in the past, as this one comes to a close, remember it isn't too late to win the week. Review your plans and goals. Don't have plans? Then how do you know where you are going? Plans are like treasure maps to your dreams and aspirations. Make goals, plans and then review them as often as possible so you stay on track.
Make Wednesdays a whole new experience. Don't look forward to what will be or has been - instead focus on the here and now. Make it a Winning Wednesday, today, tonight, next week, and the week after - make Wednesday the day it all comes together and you won't believe how easier Mondays become and how much more enjoyable Fridays can be. If you take the week and as you rise upon that crest and stand looking out - raise your hands high, inhale deeply, exhale it all out and win back the week - it's Wednesday.
